Hi all, I know I’ve been gone for like 6 months… but here I am back again with a new, much needed post!
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about self-acceptance in relation to food, fitness, well-being, and life itself. Our overall life experience is influenced by our well-being, and our well-being is influenced by nutrition and physical activity. But how can we “be well” if we don’t think that we deserve it… if we do not accept ourselves as we are and accept ourselves with change. These days, there are so many obstacles to “self love”. We tend to set expectations for ourselves to be a certain way in order for society to accept us, instead of seeing who we are right here, right now and embracing it. Self acceptance is the first and most important step to enhancing our well-being and overall life experiences.
“Accept yourself as you are. Otherwise you will not see opportunity. You will not feel free to move toward it; you will feel you are not deserving. You yourself, as much as anyone in the entire universe deserve your love and affection.”
Self-love creates an empowering energy allowing you to see clearly the incredible amount of potential you have as a person in this world. When you lead your life with love, you spread that positive energy to others. And isn’t that what we are here on earth for anyway; spreading the good and demolishing the bad? Why waste our energy on negative thoughts about ourselves, when we can spread the positivity; spread the good.
Why do we want to workout, eat right, and be well? It shouldn’t be because we hate our current selves and want to be different or perfect, it should be because we love ourselves in and out, yesterday, now and tomorrow. We deserve love from others, love from ourselves, and need to spread the love to others. Life is a sweet, precious, incredible opportunity. It’s full potential can’t be reached if we don’t see that we are all deserving. This isn’t self-indulgence. This is self-love. Our society tends to think that criticizing ourselves will keep us in line, but this only creates the worst obstacle of all- negative energy. Negative energy is defeating and degrading; it’s a trap. Positive energy is a domino effect; empowering to yourself and to the people around you….
So who are you? Looking in the mirror, what do you say to yourself? (You are an awesome, amazing person who has the gift of life and deserves the world.) You can take a breath of fresh air knowing that you deserve to love and accept yourself and others. “The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own. This is the day your life really begins.” – Bob Moawad. Once you have found self-acceptance and self love you can conquer anything.
One of my strongest and utmost desires is to show other people the joy and fun in fitness. It’s not a drudging task, it’s a sweet, empowering part of life. This is why I run, this is why I eat, this is why I want others to see how amazing it is. Fitness is loving yourself, taking care of yourself, bettering yourself for the quality of your life.
